ABOUT THE COURSE CHANGE UP!2-level course at Intermediate and Upper Intermediate levels.AIMSChange Up! takes its name from the innovative methodology introduced in this new course, enabling students to progress from a mechanical use of language to a more natural use. This is achieved through the use of authentic texts with special emphasis placed on both the spoken and written language and the use of English in real life context.

FOR THE STUDENTStudent’s bookThe Student’s Book (Intermediate and Upper Intermediate) is divided into 3 topics with each topic consisting of 3 units together with Towards Certification and Self Evaluation sections.
Unit structure:• Experience A, Experience B: each experience consists of a reading text which immerses the student in a real life context. The Experience section is presented in either a reading text or listen and read format.
• Discover: section whereby students are encouraged to delve into and discover the language they encountered in Experience. This section contains a rich source of different types of activities including:
Grammar: discovery approach to grammar backed up with numerous exercise type
Vocabulary: in depth analyses of lexical sets and how they work
Spoken Grammar: specific attention paid to the application of grammar rules in the spoken context
Spoken English: comprehension and consolidation activities
Written English: full analysis of the written language through a wide range of contexts
• Communicate: guided communication activities for all aspects of language presented in the unit. Allows students to put into practice the language they have learnt and promotes student confidence
• How to: in this section particular emphasis is placed on communication through analysis of a text or dialogue and by highlighting the functions within the text.
• English around us: closing section to each unit. Through the use of authentic reading texts, the student is presented with various aspects of the language and how it is used in everyday situations.
• Learning tips: practical advice and learning strategies.
• Towards Certification: section dedicated to CESOL FCE, with activities, hints and advice
• Self evaluation: activities and worksheets designed for self-evaluation
• Grammar reference: 22 pages of grammar reference covering all grammar structures covered in the individual units
• The Inward Eye, literature: 9 page section of literature, designed for those students taking their first steps in English literature.

WorkbookThe Workbook has been designed to consolidate the skills acquired in the student’s book. (The workbook is available both with key and tapescripts or without keys and without tapescripts). In particular, the Workbook aims to:
• Revise the language skills covered in the Student’s Book and also introduce new vocabulary skills before the start of each successive unit in the student’s book, thereby providing a ‘warm up’ to the unit.
• Revise and consolidate the unit grammar strucutures
• Provide students with learning strategies
• FCE preparation
• Self check sections (Check-Up)
